CONTEST Science and technology research call 2010/11

2 November 2009

We are seeking outline research and development (R&D) proposals against particular broad unclassified chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) research requirements for commissioning projects early in financial year 2010/2011.

Funding available for research and development

Funding has been identified for short, focussed R&D projects that have the potential to demonstrate a significant change in knowledge or capability, or proof-of-principle of new concepts.

We welcome proposals from UK academia, industry and Government laboratories; collaborative proposals across sectors are also encouraged.

Proposals considering low maturity technology or high risk/high pay off approaches will be considered, as well as applied research into more mature technologies or novel applications of existing approaches. Proposals seeking funds for 18 months or less, are particularly welcome.

Proposals that constitute additional funding for an existing project/programme for another customer or funding stream, must identify this within the proposal, confirming that the existing customer is content and clarify how the outputs from the work will be shared. This includes funding to speed up delivery, or to enhance the output of, an existing programme.

Suppliers with existing contracts within the CBRN Science and technology programme should note that applications for enhancements, extensions, or exploitation of current work will not be considered through this call.
