Counter-terrorism strategy
The aims of the counter-terrorism strategy
The key aim of the counter-terrorism strategy is to reduce the risk we face from international terrorism so that people can go about their business freely and safely.
Who is involved?
Many people contribute to the government's counter-terrorism strategy. Our 'stakeholders' in this effort include:
-
government departments
-
emergency services
-
voluntary organisations
-
the business sector
-
other governments across the world
What is the strategy based on?
The strategy known within Government as 'CONTEST' is based on a policy that can be summed up in four words: Prevent, Pursue, Protect and Prepare.
Follow the links below to learn more about what this policy means, and how it works.
